‘Caught between the consequences of climate change and breathtaking nature, Fijian conservation leaders teach me how to save their home. Over the course of 10 weeks, they open their world to me: across breathtaking reefs, between wandering sharks, mantas and through thick mangroves. All the while, we slowly close in on the scars of a tragedy, that the man-made climate change brought to Fiji 10 years ago. This 4-parts series is what I brought home. It is my attempt to show, through their eyes, why the people who lead conservation should be the ones who call a place home. My name is Philipp Fernandez. Phillipp maakte een vierdelige serie in Fiji die op 26 september in première gaat in Visum Mundi in Wageningen! De documentaire gaat over een dorp daar, de omliggende ecosystemen, de uitdagingen en het werk dat wordt gedaan om die aan te gaan.

Nadat de productiekosten zijn gedekt gaat de helft van de opbrengst rechtstreeks naar het dorp in Fiji. De andere helft wordt opnieuw geïnvesteerd in nieuwe documentaires over natuurbehoud; hiervoor werkt Phillipp specifiek samen met andere jonge filmmakers om hen zoveel mogelijk te ondersteunen.

Phillipp made a four-part series filmed in Fiji that is premiering at Visum Mundi in Wageningen on 26th September! This documentary is about a village there, the ecosystems around it, the challenges and the work that is being done to overcome them.

After covering the production costs, half the revenue goes straight to the village in Fiji. The other half will be reinvested into new conservation docs, for which Phillipp is specifically working with other young filmmakers to give them every support he can.
